It has been 15 years since the untimely death of R&B superstar Aaliyah, dealing a major blow to her family, friends and the entire music industry. The singer passed away in a plane crash in the Bahamas after filming the music video for her single “Rock The Boat.” Aaliyah was originally set to board a G5 back to the U.S. but opted to take a smaller jet to leave one day prior.

Music mogul Dame Dash was dating Aaliyah at the time and has spoken about how the loss affected him. Recently, he made an appearance on The Real, he revealed that he tried to prevent her from boarding after she had expressed uncertainty about the plane.

And I was like, ‘Don’t get on it.’ And she was just like, ‘You know, I gotta do it.’ You know, it was a complicated situation, but she had to go do that video
